Elderly Fall Project

The SWRETAC was granted additional funding this year through CDPHE as a result of SB 02 passing.  After evaluating regional data to identify the highest incidence of injury, the CQI committee identified ELDERLY FALLS as the number one injury in SW Colorado.  The board directed the Injury Prevention Committee to target this problem as a high priority and allocated funding to this process.  We hosted our first Elderly Fall Symposium on January 21st at the Sky Ute Casino and had over 50 stakeholders attended.
We have three incredible guest speakers (Dr. Kim Furry, Durango
Orthopedics, Dr. Robin Yasui, Geriatrician, Denver Health and Amy Allen, Trauma Coordinator, Mercy Regional)  We learned alot, had
some fun and began a brainstorming session on how to address
this devastating issue from a cooperative, collaborative approach.

(**Powerpoints from the symposium are available below)
